Mentally Linked is a simple, user-friendly web-based application that included a large international student community.
Our platform allows international students to directly access mental health professionals on a 24/7 timeline, in various languages with their choice of video chat, instant messages, or phone calls.

We noticed that traditional mental health service always has language constrictions in local space. However, our product provides language choices
for international students to get the most comfortable services.
CONVENIENCE?
Usually taking mental health services requires international students to wait for a long time reservation. However, our product improved the reservation process and transportation process.

Traditional mental health service in the US is costly.

Pivots
STAGE 1:
Mental Health service for the military?
We choose to pivot because militaries are hard to reach for us, and we are not familiar with the market.
We decided to change our focus on a customer group that we are familiar with.
STAGE 2:
Mental Health service for international students?
We found that the international student group has a great deal of necessity for mental health services for their study pressure.
We decide to start our business from the Chinese international student group for Chinese international students takes a large percentage of the overall international student group.
FINAL STAGE:
A 24/7 web/mobile-based application that connects international students with therapists in China, with a discussion forum open to the public.
We found that the price for Chinese is comparatively lower than in the US. Also, we can take advantage of the regional time difference.

Survey of target users
We delivered an online-based survey of an international student group at Brandeis University to prove that if there exists a market as we expected. We get a positive response, which proved that a large percentage of international students need mental health services but they just stopped by the language and price thresholds.

interviews of professionals
We asked for advice from the professional therapist Lin from China. We also interviewed the Head of the psychology department.
We know that a lot of Chinese therapists are willing to work extra hours to provide online mental health therapy.
We also get informed that self- help group is a good idea to solve mental health problems. Thus, we decided to add the discussion forum feature in our products to create an international student community in the US to broaden our target customer to the public.

Conciege MVP
To see how the online counseling works and the final effects. We did a mock-up for the whole counseling process. We get in touch with a Chinese international student A, who is struggling with stress eating and depression. (The interviewer will keep anonymous here, we use a pronoun he/him/his here) We also get in touch with a professional therapist and reserved an online psychological counseling session with a therapist that speaks Chinese. The cost is about 400 RMB. (about 57 dollars) The mock-up is based on a video call and we give complete privacy for the counseling process.
After that, we interviewed A and asking for relative experience.
